Housing

180 × 90 × 140 cm minimum, plus a supply of sticks and willow they will actually use. Bar spacing 16–19 mm.

Temperament

Confident, loud and territorial. Aggressive toward other species and often toward unfamiliar humans in the birdroom.

Breeding

Uniquely among parrots they build communal stick nests rather than using a hollow. Give them the material and they will construct their own chamber.

Established mutations

Blue (recessive)
Cinnamon (sex-linked)
Lutino (sex-linked)
Pallid (sex-linked)

Watch for

–Illegal to keep in several countries and US states: check before acquiring
–Fatty liver disease
–Aggression toward other species
–Very high volume, a genuine neighbour issue

Escaped Quakers form established feral colonies, which is why they are restricted in so many jurisdictions. Verify local law before breeding them.
