Diet
Pellet base with generous fresh fruit and vegetables. Pyrrhura conures take more fruit than most parrots without ill effect.
Housing
180 × 90 × 140 cm for a pair; they are active and need length. Bar spacing 16–19 mm.
Temperament
Boisterous, curious and much quieter than the Aratinga conures. Will chase quieter species off a perch without meaning harm.
Breeding
Steady breeders that use a box year-round as a roost, so removing it entirely for the rest period is necessary rather than optional.
Established mutations
Watch for
Yellow-sided and opaline are the same locus. Combining it with turquoise gives the pineapple, which is a combination rather than a mutation in its own right.
